Week of January 4, 2009
I am completely mesmerized by this book I am reading. It is just incredible, How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie Debartolo. Yeah, it’s just so in depth with music it’s insane in the membrane. Thought I should tell you that. Okay list of topics for entry, that eventually I will get around to explaining. (most of them are confusing or very indescribable)
1. New Year’s resolutions (still have not figured out, will progress later)
2. My new appreciation for music
3. Richard, my new boyfriend
4. School
5. My hair
6. How badly I want to be back in Charleston
7. Etc.
First line of business, the Internet at my school sucks balls. They say that “It’d be up and running by tonight”, but it isn’t WORKING! Whoa, déjà vu. Okay yeah, Mr. Baker, the IT dude, is like up to his waist in work to keep the Internet alive and working. But so far he is failing to do so. What a pity.
Now I’m journeying back to the book that I’m reading, which has completely changed my new love for music. To me now, music is one of the rare beauties that you see on the earth that still makes sense. It’s the only thing left for us to pull emotion and make people orgasm for more of it’s royal sexiness. I hope that makes sense.
Oh something to add to my New Year’s resolutions… trying to keep up with this diary. I’m hoping it won’t be a dunzo in a week.
Quickly… back to the book. The character Paul Hudson to me sounds like a God. And I think that the person that is exactly like Paul is J.R. Richards, lead singer for the former band Dishwalla. J.R.’s voice is a mixture between Frank Sinatra’s and an early Elvis Costello. Beautiful, just beautiful.
Note to self: Looks up the lyrics to Believe by The Bravery.
The song that J.R. sings the most beautiful is Angels or Devils, acoustically. But if you want a lyric genius, you should look up the lead singer to Bright Eyes. Unfortunately, I cannot recall his name. Bummer. Oh well, back to the point. The man’s words are so deep it can make any person fall to pieces.
Another song to point out is Hey, Hey by Dispatch.
Say what you want, say what you mean,
Question yourself are you really what you seem,
Say who you are, say what you mean,
Question yourself are you really what you dream
It’s inspiring. Every time I listen to it I get chills down my spine, and then my vision sends me into an orbit of colors on the back of my eyelids. This happens a lot when I listen to songs that have a mood changing affect on me. The colors that coincide with this song is mainly a deep magenta-purple and a navy.
